A porcelain flask presented to Pope Leo XIV.
On November 28, 2025 , Pope Leo XIV made a historic visit to Nicaea to commemorate the 1700th anniversary of the First Council of Nicaea . Praying alongside Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew and representatives of other Christian communities in front of the basilica ruins on the shores of Lake Nicaea, the Pope delivered important messages regarding Christian unity and peace.
As a memento of this meaningful visit, a special pilgrim's flask was produced in the İznik Foundation workshop and presented to Pope Leo XIV and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. Based on a 16th-century İznik flask, the original of which is located in the Sèvres Museum , an authentic mold was prepared, and the production process was completed in approximately 72 days. This special gift, entirely handcrafted, is one of the unique and distinguished examples of the blue and white period.
